George Fovargue was born in Donington, Lincs c1883.  He married Elizabeth Scoffied (from Dry Doddington) in 1903.   They had 3 children:

• Edith                    born c1904 Kilvington, Notts
• Ernest William born c1906 Sedgebrook
• John Henry       born c1908 Woolsthorpe   

They were living in Barkston when George joined 1^st Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment.  He was killed in action whilst on 4^th October 1917 during the Battle of Broodseinde (Passchendaele).  He has no known grave but is listed on Tyne Cot Memorial and Barkston War Memorial.
